When I became pregnant, I had no idea what to buy for my baby. I would look up baby essentials and so many different options would pop up, I didn’t know what to pick. I felt like I had to buy everything. So, I turned to reading blogs on Pinterest and watching Youtube videos of moms talking about their favorite baby products. This made my life SO much easier. I felt like I could breathe. For the first time since I have been pregnant, I felt a sense of control.
I knew I wanted to give that same feeling to others because being a parent is hard. It is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. The day I became a mom is the day that I didn’t live for just me anymore and that is extremely hard. On top of all that you have to make sure you have all the right items for your new little bundle of joy and believe me, there are a ton.
This helped me prepare for both my babies and I hope this blog does the same for you! Start your registry here!
Feeding/Nursing
Breast pump – I pumped with both of my girls for the first few months. Both times I used Medela Breast Pump and I absolutely loved it. What I liked so much about the pump was, it was very comfortable, the battery lasted a long time, and the pump was very durable. My 2 year old could throw it across the room and it would be perfectly fine.
Bottles – Both of my girls drank from bottles because they both had a very hard time latching. I tried so many different bottles and I always found myself going back to the Philips Avent Bottles. They are very easy to clean and never leak like some of the others.
Breastmilk Storage Bags – These were the bags I received from my baby shower and I never tried any others. These were great and I never had to think about trying any other brand.
Soothing
Pacifier – I know some parents don’t like to use pacifiers but I couldn’t survive the first few months without one. My favorite is the Philips Avent Soothie Pacifier. After testing many pacifiers, my husband and I figured out that our girls like the softer nipples on the pacifiers. This brand has that option and worked out perfectly for us.
Bassinet – This is the BEST bassinet. My girls slept so good in it for about 4 months before they went into their cribs. It has pockets on the sides which was very helpful in the middle of the night. The Mika Micky bassinet is very roomy for your little one and the mattress is extremely comfortable. This is HUGE because a lot of bassinet mattresses are hard.
Swaddle – I have 2 swaddles that I used and absolutely love:
- Copper Pearl Swaddle Blanket – This is what I used when I first brought my girls home. It’s super soft and extremely stretchy.
- Amazing Baby Transitional Swaddle – It only took a few weeks until my children didn’t like their arms swaddled on their sides. This swaddle still gives them that tight comfort, while letting their arms be a little more free. It also has mitten cuffs that help keep their little hands warm.
Travel
Car Seat – I got this car seat and stroller set from my baby shower. They are both great! The stroller is really easy to use by yourself and it can go anywhere. I took it on a couple trails with me and had zero issues. Highly recommend!
Baby Carrier – I have 2 baby carriers that I use all the time and love the same:
- Boba Wrap Baby Carrier – This was my go to wrap when I was trying to get things done around the house and baby girl wanted to come along. It is extremely comfy for baby and I. This wrap also doesn’t put any pressure on the hips or spine.
- Infantino Flip 4-in-1 Carrier – I used this carrier a lot when I went out to places. It’s super fast and easy to put on. You will need this, especially when you’re out in public and don’t have time to put the wrap on.
Hygiene
Bath – I got this bathtub with my first and I am currently using it with my 4 month old baby. They really like this bath and look comfortable when in it. The best part about this tub is, you can use it as they get older because it’s a newborn to toddler tub.
Baby Shampoo – This is my favorite shampoo brand I like to use with my girls. What I love about Honest Shampoo is, all the scents smell so good and they aren’t overpowering.
Rash Cream – I have tried many different rash creams and Desitin has never disappointed.
